About Us

Hilde Vos & Robert Weston

Country in the Wood is run by two people who take the stage themselves: Hilde Vos and Robert Weston. Both are Americana and country artists, and you can hear that in every lineup.

Founder

Hilde Vos

Hilde Vos (b. 1986, Nijmegen) is an Americana and country singer. As a child, she discovered Dolly Parton in a record store in Nijmegen, which turned out to be the start of a musical career that took her to The Voice of Holland, the country show The Southern Stars, and the Norsk Country Treff in Norway. She writes her own songs, inspired by Patty Griffin, Emmylou Harris, and Bob Dylan.

Her song "The Long Road" won a Dutch Country Music Award in 2018, followed by an ISSA Golden Award for Best International Female Vocalist in 2021, and at the end of 2024 she was named Best International Country Band at Texas Sounds. She recorded an album at Sound Emporium Studio in Nashville and currently tours as 'June' with Def Americans, the Netherlands' best-known Johnny Cash tribute band.

Hilde lives in Drenthe, which she calls "the Texas of the Netherlands": the open fields and wild nature suit her music perfectly. Driven by her love for the region, she founded Country in the Wood and has now organized it for four editions, in a small patch of woods in Coevorden.

Robert Weston

Robert Weston is a Dutch country singer and songwriter, inspired by John Denver, George Strait, and Kenny Chesney. He recorded his debut album 'Won't Settle Down' in Nashville with producer Kenny Royster, which earned him a Josie Music Awards nomination in 2024. He's performed twice at the legendary Bluebird Cafe and did a radio tour of stations across Tennessee, Alabama, and Georgia.

With over a million streams on Spotify and performances across the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, Robert is regularly on stage, often alongside Rogier Brink of Ramblin' Boots, or performing as Robert Weston & The Orange Blossoms.

Robert has performed at Country in the Wood himself and, starting with this edition, is also co-organizing the festival alongside Hilde.

Together

Four Years Solo, Now Moving Forward Together

Over four editions, Hilde built Country in the Wood into a festival that visitors, artists, and the woods themselves now call home. For the fifth edition, on May 8, 2027, she's organizing it together with Robert: two artists who know what it feels like to stand on that stage, and precisely because of that, know exactly what a festival like this needs.
